====== Preparation ======

===== 1. Environment=====

Outer and inner environment:

Before doing tea yoga, we should prepare a quiet and clean room. It's usually good to have such a space in our home. There should be fresh air that could go through, but shouldn't be cold. In the same way, we also prepare well with our inner environment. We finish dealing with all the other things of the life, and make sure not to be disturbed during the practice of tea yoga.

The arrangement of the room is in harmony with the soundings and people inside. In the same way, doing tea yoga is part of our daily life, and being in harmony with other things in our life. We understand that the environment of outside and inside influence each other and affect the general quality of the life. Being in harmony and balanced, Zhong (中) and He (和) are important concepts in Chinese traditional philosophy.

After that, we could devote ourselves to this beautiful experience with a tranquil, calm and clear heart.


===== 2. Time =====

It depends on the habit of different person, and we do tea yoga when we have good spirit.

Normally there are two times that suitable for most people: one is in the morning after getting up, and the other is in the evening before going to bed.

In the situations below it is not suitable for doing tea yoga:

One hour right after the meal; right after drinking alcohol;
In bad or abnormal weather, such as thundering, very clouded and dark in the day;
Right after having sex, it's better to be after for 2 hours;
Very angry in emotion;
With hypertension。

===== 3. Equipments =====

====A Tea bowl====

In ceramic or porcelain (strictly no plastic); the diameter of the bowl depends on the size of your face (at least as wide as from your forehead to the lower lip), thick enough to maintain the warmth of the boiling water and let your hand to hold it but still don't feel to hot.

====A shower towel====

Be big enough to cover your head and shoulder (A standard size would be 72*130 cm), thick and soft enough to maintain the warmth of the tea water and make you feel comfortable.

====Clothes====

Wear comfortable clothes, soft and loose, no buckles in the front.

take off hard things in the body (watch, glasses, jewelleryies)

If you have long hair, please tie up your hairs neatly


====Tea====
The best is half fermented Oolong tea (乌龙茶) such as Guanyin (铁观音), or fermented Pu'er tea (普洱茶). They normally do not irritate the stomach as much as green tea. Especially, those with raised fragrance such as Guanyin would have longer inherent charm.

Green tea or flower tea may also be used, but you should understand whether they are suitable for the nature of your own body. It's the best to consult a tea yoga teacher before using them.

====Water====
Best to have spring water

==== Others ====

It will be the best to have a hot shower before doing tea yoga, because a hot shower helps to open the pores in the body which encourage the tea facial steaming. If that's not possible, then **you must clean your face clearly** before doing tea yoga. Otherwise the dirties will be absorbed and come into the inside of the body and harm the health. Don’t apply any cosmetic!

Foot bath: You could immerse the feet in hot water for a while before doing tea yoga, it will help the supplement of the vigor quickly. It is good especially for old people.
